Jamie Prophet is a multi-talented musician and music producer. He held the position of Section Principal Trumpet of the BBC Philharmonic with distinction for 14 years, joining as Associate Principal whilst still an undergraduate at the Royal Northern College of Music. Jamie performed as soloist with the BBC Philharmonic countless times, including Aratunian’s Trumpet Concerto on live on BBC Radio 3 under Vassily Sinaisky, Haydn’s Trumpet Concerto for BBC 10 Pieces under John Storgards, and Shostakovich’s Concerto for Trumpet and Piano under Dmitri Jurowski. Critically acclaimed, Jamie's performances have been lauded by national press - of Mahler’s 5th Symphony at the BBC Proms under Juanjo Mena, The Times wrote “Jamie Prophet’s trumpet solos were a consistent joy – played with a milky insouciance that almost suggested he was about to burst into some Duke Ellington.”; Jamie’s solo performance in Copland’s famous ‘Billy the Kid’ under John Wilson for Chandos Records, Gramophone magazine wrote “The solo trumpet from ‘Prairie Night’ from Billy the Kid is a stand out moment”. Jamie has been one of the most outstanding and respected trumpet players of his generation. Jamie has performed as guest principal trumpet with leading UK  ensembles including the London Symphony Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. He has performed as Principal Trumpet under many of the world’s finest conductors such as Daniel Gatti, Sir John Eliot Gardiner, Paavo Jarvi, Sir Charles Mackerras, Gianandrea Noseda and Sir Colin Davis. As soloist, Jamie has performed Bach’s coveted Brandenburg Concerto No.2 many times, most notably alongside the great violin virtuoso Anthony Marwood. He has performed as soloist with the New York International Staff Band of the Salvation Army, Synfonia Cymru, Black Dyke Band and the Royal College of Music Brass Band. He has been active as a chamber musician and educator, premiering works written especially for him and giving masterclasses at institutions such as Trinity Laban College of Music and Chetham’s School of Music. He has been a member of the teaching faculty at the Royal Northern College of Music and The University of Manchester. Jamie has adjudicated high-profile competitions, including BBC Young Musician and the final of BBC Young Brass Soloist. He has performed commercially with artists such as The 1975, The Pet Shop Boys, Chris de Burgh, The XX, and Boy George. He is featured in "Das grosse Buch der Trompete," an encyclopedia of the world's most important trumpet players. Jamie holds the role of Musical Director of the Boarshurst Silver Band, a championship section brass band based in Greenfield, Saddleworth. Recently, Jamie has ventured into music production for TV and film, earning a Master of Arts in Commercial Music Production with Distinction from Tileyard Education, London, in 2022. His work has been featured on tv and film all over Europe on shows such as Big Brother, First Dates, Top Chef and the Paris Olympics. Jamie is a former member of the European Union Youth Orchestra and the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain.
